Leukaemia is the most common cancer in children and teens, accounting for almost 1 out of 3 cancers. 2 out of 10 children diagnosed fail to overcome the disease, a terrible fact.

Under the campaign #fuckleucemia, Hawkers and Unoentrecienmil come together with one goal, to end childhood leukaemia. With your help, you will make possible the investigation of new treatments so that all the diagnosed children can overcome the disease.

Obtain funds to allocate to the next research grant.

Description

Under the #fuckleucemia campaign, Hawkers and Unoentrecienmil come together with one goal, to end childhood leukaemia. The alliance has an exceptional ambassador, Julione Tapas, a graffiti artist, just 12 years old who fights like a true hero against leukemia. After reaching the initial goal of € 10,000 raised thanks to the Hawkers community, we encrease the goal up to € 12.000.

The Fundación Unoentrecienmil was founded in 2012 with the aim of supporting the investigation of childhood leukemia, which is essential for children like Julione to receive treatment and overcome the disease. Approximately 300,000 cases of cancer are diagnosed in children and teens under the age of 19 every year.  And there are an estimated 80,000 deaths annually from childhood cancer worldwide, nearly half of childhood cancers worldwide are cancers of the blood.

The € 12,000 raised in this campaign will go towards one of the Research Grants that Unoentrecienmil launches every year. The scholarships are previously announced in the BOE and are evaluated by a scientific commission (ANEP). In this time the foundation has already delivered more than € 600,000 in Research Grants to the most renowned researchers in the country.

Activities
  • Provide a two-year research grant that will allow a medical-scientific team to work continuously in the investigation of childhood leukemia.
  • Convene publicly the scholarship, evaluate the received candidatures and select the research team to which the scholarship will be awarded.
  • Ensure a smooth communication between the Foundation Unoentrecienmil, the winning research team and the center where the research is carried out.
  • Carry out the corresponding follow-up through reporting and a final evaluation.
