Collaborate to fight against child malnutrition in Africa.

There are over 180 million people around the world who will need humanitarian assistance during 2024. Armed conflicts, the climate emergency and collapsing economies are having a devastating effect on the most vulnerable populations, especially children.

With your help, Action Against Hunger can combat malnutrition among the most vulnerable population in Africa.

Collaborate to fight against child malnutrition in Africa
Campaign objectives
  • Combat malnutrition and associated pathologies, preventing nutritional deterioration in vulnerable populations, especially children and breastfeeding mothers.
  • Guarantee access to safe water and basic sanitation, both necessary for life and development.
  • Offer protection to the most vulnerable populations, especially girls and women, who are particularly affected by food insecurity and malnutrition worldwide.
Description

In the heart of West Africa, the Sahel region is facing one of the worst food and nutrition crises in decades, with more than 55 million people at risk. In the lean season, from June to October, food from the last harvest runs out and staple food prices soar. This year, the crisis is worsened by a combination of armed conflicts, economic problems and climate variability and it affects mainly children under five, pregnant women and the elderly.

Action Against Hunger has been working for years in countries such as Mauritania, Mali, Senegal and Niger, focusing on emergency response, promoting resilience and sustainable development to end hunger.

In Senegal, for example, the work of Action Against Huger has benefited approximately 800,000 people in terms of food security and livelihoods. Furthermore, the most vulnerable populations have seen an improvement in relation to nutrition and food diversity.

Action Against Hunger is a humanitarian organisation fighting the causes and effects of hunger around the world. They seek a holistic approach in all their activities to address the underlying and long-term causes of hunger and malnutrition. If malnutrition places a heavy burden on millions of children around the world, nutrition can be an excellent investment. Improving the nutritional status of a population strengthens its capabilities and stimulates the development process, leading to poverty reduction.
